He leads the research group on Global Change and Terrestrial Carbon Cycle, specializing in global change ecology. His work primarily focuses on the responses and adaptations of subtropical forest ecosystems to global change, addressing three key scientific questions: (1) quantifying the fate of carbon atoms fixed by photosynthesis, (2) understanding ecosystem responses to environmental change, and (3) establishing a positive feedback loop between humans and nature.

Dr. Wu has published 46 SCI-indexed papers, including first-author and corresponding-author articles in top-tier journals such as Science Bulletin, Global Change Biology, and Ecology Letters. His research has garnered over 5,000 citations, with an H-index of 24.
